Modern Acupuncture
Just as in Traditional Acupuncture there are different types and styles of Modern Acupuncture. Some incorporate homoeopathy, herbal remedies or Bach flower remedies, others use nutritional supplements. Some practitioners use bio-resonant frequencies to treat the person. By using objective measurements practitioners can diagnose which points or areas the person has as priorities from a diagnostic and treatment perspective. As diagnosis is the “key” to helping with any condition, anatomy and physiology are a pre-requisite from the EFMA organisation.
Modern acupuncture can be utilised by any health practitioner, once the required training, standards and knowledge have been attained.
Below is a short summarisation of the different types and styles of Modern Acupuncture, for those who require a little more in depth information it is listed separately on the web site, see the respective web pages.
Bio-resonance: is a form of diagnosis and treatment where points are found by objective measurements on the hands, feet and body. These points are usually then treated by testing and using frequencies or bio-resonance's found to have a therapeutic effect on the indicated points. Allergy testing can also be done using this system.
Voll: is a form of diagnosis and treatment where points are found by objective measurements on the hands, feet and body. Homoeopathic remedy ampoules are then put in "circuit" and are tested against the point to see if they normalise the "point", other remedies can used to test with such as homoeopathic or herbal remedies etc. Allergy testing can be done using this system .
Vega: is a form of diagnosis and treatment where various types of ampoules are tested usually against one point, either on the hands or feet. Example: homoeopathic organ ampoules, tissue ampoules etc. Homoeopathic remedy ampoules are then put in "circuit" with the ampoules previously found and are tested against the point to see if they normalise it. A lot of allergy testing is done in this way, using Vega testing type machines, which should not be confused with EAV testing units.
Nogier / Kropej — Auricular: diagnosis is made by measuring the points in the ear using a proper measurement unit not a 'beeper unit'.A treatment plan is then formulated form these findings. Treatment is then applied to the points found using Nogiers auricular techniques. Treatment can be applied by needles, DC treatment units, LED coloured light, frequencies, magnetic "dots" called semi permanent treatment where the magnetised dot is held in place by a tiny plaster, tiny needles can also be used in this way. Body points can also be utilised in combination with the auricular points when quadrant measurements have been taken and assessed. The Nogier auricular cartography and points are different from Traditional ear acupuncture cartography and points. The same should also be said about Kropej who also contributed major work to the practice of modern auricular acupuncture .
EAP Electro Acupuncture: in general are frequency windows with known therapeutic effects that can be utilised by the practitioner. These are not taught within Traditional acupuncture but is used sometimes by TCM practitioners. Frequencies and their effects are taught within Modern acupuncture and used by its practitioners.
Quadrant Measurements: measurements are taken via the quadrants of hands, feet and head areas to find out which area has a dysfunction. Some units do multiple readings of the quadrants in succession. This form of diagnosis can be used with auricular or body points, in the normalisation of the quadrant readings found.
Other forms of Modern Acupuncture
ACR: is a form of testing using the patients pulse for testing, this is not the Traditional acupuncture pulse testing. It is not taught within TCM curriculum's but is taught within Modern Acupuncture curriculum's. Various types of remedies, light and colour are used to test and diagnose against the patients and their pulse, to feel if there is an adverse pulse reaction and if it can be corrected. This type of modern acupuncture can be used in its own right with patients or as a backup system if required.
pH testing: of body substances, this helps with the overall diagnostic assessment of the bodies health and its biological terrain.
Allergy testing: in today's environment it is part of most of the Modern Acupuncture techniques described and is available from modern acupuncturists in general as a standard part of the testing as a whole.Allergy testing is not a part of Traditional acupuncture techniques or training.
Kirlian photography: used as a diagnostic tool, to see what is happening energetically using high voltage photography (the person does not feel anything!).A photograph is produced, usually black and white showing "flares" or no flares of energy is probably the best way to describe this. This is not the esoteric type of diagnosis that some readers may have heard or read about.
SEG (Segmentelektrograph): takes readings and produces a graph of the person, used solely as a diagnostic aid in determining where problems or conditions are ongoing via electrodes placed on the persons body. There are different types of unit names like BFD, that do essentially the same diagnostic procedures. The unit is also used for return visits to determine progress shown via the graph. There are as always more up to date units available.
Colour: as strange as it may seem to some colour can used as a treatment in its own right or in combination with other treatment modes such as bio-resonance's. It is not solely Modern acupunctures, and is taught within some Traditional acupuncture, primarily as a diagnostic tool. It can be a treatment system within its own right, as light is a frequency, that can be altered.
Sound: again is used within Modern acupuncture, and is not necessarily taught within Traditional acupuncture but is recognised from a Tibetan philosophy. Just think about the music that makes you feel sad, or the music that makes you feel good and happy, to give you the "essence" of it being used therapeutically. Sound and colour are very powerful treatments when mixed in their own right.
Magnetic fields: can be used within Modern acupuncture but are not solely Modern acupunctures, the frequency; strength and polarity of the magnetic field can be critical with treating some conditions. Within Modern acupuncture magnetic fields are used as a "carrier" for other treatments, it can also be used for treatment in its own right by the Modern practitioner.
Ancillary
All the above Modern Acupuncture descriptions can also utilise these various forms of treatment applications as part of their treatment regimes. With Modern Acupuncture needles do not have to be used by the “modern” practitioner, but may be used on an individual practitioner basis. The treatments available via Modern Acupuncture as you will have read can be many, so it is advisable to ask the practitioner what type of diagnostic regime they use and what type of treatment can or may be expected. Some practitioners give graphs of what has been found and also possibly written reports of further in depth findings from the preliminary graph, others give an in depth verbal report during the testing and treatment.
Modern Acupuncture versus Traditional Acupuncture
Traditional acupuncture does not utilise these “Modern” treatment concepts of accurate measurement equipment or treatments, the exception being EAP units with 'limited' frequencies. Modern acupuncture diagnosis and treatments are not taught via Traditional acupuncture training curriculum's. Modern acupuncture is a system in its own right just as is Traditional acupuncture a system in its own right, both have the same objectives, to bring about a patients health by balancing or normalising the patients condition, without doing harm or injury. At the end of the day the public will make their own choices until a Governmental Lead Body is nominated to register and regulate hopefully all types of acupuncture and not just Traditional Chinese Medicine or Western Medical Acupuncture which are TCM methods used by medical practitioners in its various forms.
