Auricular Acupuncture and Addictions

Auricular (ear) acupuncture is a very effective treatment for addictions, it is being used more and more in the treatment of drug rehabilitation, with good success rates.

It should be stated that the word "drugs", does not just cover what might be termed "street drugs", it also covers drugs like tranquilisers and some pain killers that people have become addicted to for whatever reason.

Part of auricular addiction treatment within the overall treatment, is reduction of the persons anxiety by bringing about relaxation, which in turn helps to reduce some of the dependency of the drug or drugs being taken by the person.

The added enhancement of treating drug addictions has been made possible by the proper measurement of auricular points with the indication of possible underlying conditions, that would not necessarily be mentioned by the patient before receiving treatment, when their case histories were taken.

Not knowing or having a realisation of these underlying conditions can cause problems with expected treatment progress and outcomes.

In some addiction clinics body quadrants are measured and the relevant points are also utilised to help "balance" the patients quadrants, as well as using the measured indicated auricular acupuncture points.
